Ranchweb, ranch travel expert Gene Kilgore's trusted international ranch vacations website, was founded in 1995 and has been a go-to resource since then for those seeking international ranch vacations.
Gene’s goal for relaunching and upgrading the site in 2018 was to elevate an already trusted resource where travellers could confidently research, compare and plan ranch vacations across North and South America, Canada and beyond.
This presented an opportunity for me to transform an established ranch directory into a trusted editorial destination for ranch travellers worldwide, through specialist ranch travel writing, editing, editorial planning, website copy.
-
Since we relaunched Ranchweb, I've worked alongside Gene as Managing Editor and Membership Director, and my role with Ranchweb encompasses writing and updating web copy, guest ranch communications and copy, SEO, team communications, social media management, long-term content planning, email marketing and more.
The aim is to support travellers researching their next adventure while helping member ranches present their businesses to a wider global audience.
More than seven years after relaunch, Ranchweb continues to evolve through a partnership built on consistency, trust and a shared commitment to raising the standard of ranch travel content.
Specialist insight: Ranch travel is a unique niche where successful content needs to understand the guest experience, the booking journey and the questions travellers ask before choosing a ranch vacation.
-
Working closely with Gene throughout the platform's redevelopment and continued growth, I deliver/have delivered the following:
Editorial strategy and long-term content planning
Ranch travel blog writing
Guest writer blog editing and optimisation
Guest ranch profile copywriting and optimisation
Website copy development and editorial improvements
SEO and AI search optimisation
Subscriber email newsletters (Ranch Roundup)
Industry email campaigns
Membership communications and account management
Editorial review, quality control and brand consistency
Social media development and direction
Every piece of content is created with a clear purpose: helping travellers make informed decisions and strengthening Ranchweb’s position as an authoritative ranch travel resource.
-
One of the greatest opportunities during Ranchweb's relaunch was transforming the platform from a directory of ranch listings into an online destination travellers could genuinely rely on throughout their booking journey.
Rather than simply publishing content, I ask:
‘What information on guest ranch travel are prospective guests actively searching for and how can we provide the most helpful answer?’
That approach shapes every stage of the editorial strategy.
Outdated ranch listings and web copy were updated to improve clarity, consistency and search visibility
A new blog was developed to answer genuine traveller questions and target high-intent search topics.
An advanced search and filter feature was introduced alongside Gene’s successful Check Availability tool, helping travellers refine their ranch vacation search
The launch of subscriber and B2B email campaigns strengthened relationships with travellers, travel advisors and member ranches.
As search behaviour has continued to evolve, so has our content strategy
Today, Gene and I plan newsletters, articles and webpages with both traditional search engines and AI-powered discovery in mind, ensuring Ranchweb remains visible wherever travellers begin researching ranch vacations.
The objective has remained consistent: create useful, trustworthy content that helps travellers make confident decisions while strengthening Ranchweb's position as one of the ranch travel industry's leading editorial resources.

Every guest ranch and travel brand is different, but the goal is the same: attract the right guests through content that communicates the experience before an inquiry is made.
My work with Ranchweb demonstrates how strategic editorial planning, specialist ranch travel writing, guest ranch website copy and search-led content can strengthen visibility, build long-term authority and support sustainable growth.
And whether you’re launching a new guest ranch website, refreshing existing copy or developing an editorial strategy, the same principles apply.
Ready to strengthen your ranch's content?
Does your ranch or travel brand offer an exceptional guest experience, but your website, blogs or marketing content aren't communicating that value clearly? I'd love to help.
